Green Lands
Disturbed lands

Yes, there is a choice. A choice of green pastures with renewable energy resources or barren lands with skyscrapers made by excruciating natural resources.

Sustainable development goals bring us a choice of opting for better alternatives for our future generations to experience. We have a decade to achieve these goals as 2021 has begun already. Climate change, the standard of living and everything related or unrelated to people factors are dropping. Around 1.1 billion people in the world are below the poverty line. The yearly infant deaths have declined from 8.8 million in 1990 to 4.1 million in 2017. That means the Population is increasing and so are the resources getting used up fast and falling short causing unemployment and poverty. As a result, Global Health Security Index mentions that not even a single country in this world is ready to handle a pandemic or even epidemic. Every country has different problems and so the solutions vary.

Agendas- United Nations presented 17 Sustainable Development Goals in part of UN Resolution 70/1 Agenda 2030 was: -

1. Eliminating poverty

2. Focus on human development.

3. Enhancing Environment

4. Provide Social justice

5. Include every nation in this initiative.

These goals were universal, integrated, and transformative.

Also, MDGs (Millennium Development Goals) were relatively successful but didn’t go far. The possible reasons for its slow or limited progress in achieving the MDGs are complicated, and with a global recession and past challenges with all goals, no limitations in the MDG framework itself cannot be entirely responsible for shortfalls in its progress.

To achieve the 2030 agenda, with a decade left and thus should emphasize the speed of development. This speed is ensured by the 17th Goal of SDG. It is the heart of all the goals. It is going to ensure that every goal is collectively achieved within a specific allotted time.

Above all, this goal has a unique purpose. It is nothing but Cooperation and no Competition between countries.

Data labels represent the number of countries implementing national statistical plans. The horizontal axis and the length of the bar describe the proportion of countries implementing plans.

The above graph mentions that SDGs focus on financially stable plans. Various economical aspects like progress on the development of specific measures and tools; and statistical capacity-building efforts and funding requirements from the point of view of every other country in this world is taken into consideration to frame this blueprint of 2030.

A free trade area called The African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) is outlined in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement among 54 of the 55 African Union nations. The free-trade area is one of the largest in the world in terms of participating countries since the World Trade Organization is formed. This is nothing but an example of Target 17.10 Multilateral trading system.

Globalization has brought the world closer. Target 17.8 Inclusion of Science Technology and Innovation for least developing countries; suggests the same. By understanding the various key aspects of the 17th SDG, we get to know the crucial part partnership plays in gelling up all the other goals together. These are meant to be achieved collectively So instead of sustaining the problem, we are together in finding sustainable solutions.

The world is on the tips of our finger.

So what choice are you making?

Collective motive and efforts!
